HOUSTON – June 28, 2016 – Alert Logic, the leading provider of Security-as-a-Service solutions for the cloud, today announced the findings of a Forrester Consulting study that details the struggles that security teams face to adequately secure applications running on cloud computing platforms. The study, based on a survey of 100 IT professionals responsible for cloud security infrastructure in the U.S. and U.K., finds that businesses are often challenged to recruit the staff and secure the financial and technical resources required to support an in-house Security Operations Center (SOC).
The study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of Alert Logic, “Evolve Your Security Operations Strategy to Account for Cloud (June 2016),” was designed to assess the impact of cloud adoption on security operations and the related challenges and benefits that IT professionals experience when adapting their security operations to secure cloud infrastructures.
“Cloud computing enables businesses to invest more time in innovation and less time managing IT infrastructure,” said Ben Matheson, Chief Marketing Officer of Alert Logic. “In the same way, many businesses are finding that supplementing or outsourcing their security operations with cloud security vendors that offer cloud-native technologies and fully managed services is an increasingly strategic option.”
The study also finds that 51 percent of respondents are increasing investment in their security operations as a result of the adoption of cloud computing, 49 percent are instituting new cloud security policies and controls and 46 percent are re-evaluating their security operations and controls across all environments.
